The origin of the Katan silk saree can be traced back to Persia, though it is now weaved in Banaras. The women of the royal family during the Mughal Empire were the ones who wore luxurious clothes made of Katan silk.

- Keep the saree in butter paper, or you can also wrap it in a muslin cloth
- Unfold your silk sarees and change the folding preferably every month
- Ensure minimal friction between the cloth and the embroidery when you fold embroidered outfits.
- Do not use perfume on zari sarees, as it tends to fade/dulls the polish
